With more than 1,400 pharmacies and at least one pharmacy present in virtually every community in B.C., pharmacists are the most accessible health-care professionals for British Columbians.
Pharmacies offer a range of services, including dispensing your medications, providing all kinds of vaccines and injections, reviewing your medications for those who take five or more, helping the public quit smoking, managing diabetes care, and much more.

On June 1, 2023, B.C. joined nine other provinces in Canada in which pharmacists can prescribe for minor ailments and is just one of four provinces where pharmacists can prescribe for contraception. Patients can book an appointment or walk-in to their local pharmacy. More information
There are now about 1,400 community pharmacies in B.C. distributing COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits free of charge to eligible British Columbians. These kits are rapid antigen tests that work by detecting the antigens (proteins) of the virus that causes COVID-19. More Information
Health Canada has approved an RSV vaccine, called Arexvy, which has been authorized for use in adults 60 years of age and older to prevent lower respiratory tract disease caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The RSV vaccine is not funded by the Province of British Columbia. For individuals interested in receiving the vaccine, it will be available for purchase from select B.C. pharmacies. More information
In British Columbia, males born in 2005 or later and females can get the vaccine for free as long as they get their first dose before they turn 19 and their last dose before they turn 26. The HPV vaccine is part of the recommended vaccination schedule for all youth in British Columbia. More information
British Columbians will receive invitations to book their appointments for a flu shot and/or COVID-19 vaccination based on their eligibility starting in early October 2023. More information
The oral antiviral drug Paxlovid™ (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) is used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults who do not require hospitalization and are at high risk of progressing to serious illness. More information
